Dr. Warren was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School. He earned a BA in Biology from the University of Utah and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago.
After practicing general dentistry in Salt Lake City, he returned for full-time specialty training in endodontics at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He has practiced as an endodontic specialist in Salt Lake City since 1988.
Teaching
Dr. Warren lectures at the University of Utah School of Dentistry on odontogenic and non-odontogenic pain: how to tell pain that comes from a tooth from pain that only feels like it does. He has also lectured nationally and internationally on endodontics and 3D imaging.

Minimally invasive endodontics
Endodontics has changed a great deal in recent years. We now know that removing tooth structure inside the canals weakens a tooth and raises the risk of fracture, one of the leading causes of tooth loss after root canal treatment. Today it is possible to clean canals thoroughly without enlarging them. This is called minimally invasive endodontics.
Dr. Warren is known for his skill with minimally invasive techniques, and his cases are used by an instrument maker to teach these methods to dentists around the world.
